Why Suswasthya Nepal ?
Good Health Nepal, also known as Suswasthya Nepal, is a non-governmental organization officially registered with the District Administration Office, Kathmandu, on 2069-12-22 B.S. (Registration No. 890). It became affiliated with the Social Welfare Council on 2070-01-09 B.S. (Affiliation No. 37019) to operate in partnership with the Government of Nepal and donor agencies, including the Acupuncture Relief Project (ARP), since 2013. The organization maintains affiliations with local municipalities, provincial governments, and the federal government of Nepal.
The core objective of Suswasthya Nepal is to enhance access to healthcare in rural areas of Nepal through the most effective and sustainable approaches. This fundamental vision drives the organization’s efforts to strengthen rural healthcare services, specifically government-run health posts and Primary Healthcare Centers in Nepal.
The Board of Suswasthya Nepal is chaired by Mr. Tsering Sangpo Sherpa and includes six other Board members: Ms. Pasang Yangji Sherpa (Treasurer), Mrs. Laxmi Chapagain (Secretary), Mr. Nima Kanchha Sherpa (Vice-Chairman), Mrs. Renuka Suwal (Board Member), Ms. Sita Bakhrel (Board Member), and Mrs. Pasang Lhamu Sherpa (Board Member). The executive board receives advisory support from Dr. Sarita Shrestha (Senior Ayurveda Doctor in Nepal), Mr. Andrew Schlabach (Associate Professor, OCOM USA), and Mr. Bhimsagar Guragain (Former District Public Health Officer, Makawanpur).
The NGO also contributes to improving local village economies by training and employing a team of medical interpreters who work alongside clinical practitioners. Additionally, Suswasthya Nepal collaborates closely with the Government of Nepal (GoN), District Public Health Offices, Zonal Ayurveda Departments, local municipalities, and wards to secure clinic locations, foster cooperative relations, and identify potential opportunities for the growth and evolution of healthcare in Nepal.
Visions:
1. To establish affordable, sustainable, and effective healthcare services in rural areas of Nepal where access to healthcare is limited.
2. To strengthen healthcare services provided by local governments through NGO partnerships with local health posts.
Missions:
1. To provide free medical support to individuals living in rural areas of Nepal who lack easy or effective access to healthcare, by leveraging national and international health-related expertise to alleviate the conditions of patients suffering from various physical and mental health issues.
Goals:
1. To successfully hand over a fully operational integrated medicine clinic to the local government of Thaha Municipality by 2030 and continue to support the program through supervision and resources.
Objectives:
1. To diagnose and treat poor, helpless, and financially incapable patients through expert acupuncturists.
2. To organize acupuncture-related camps and satellite clinics for the treatment of poor, helpless, and financially incapable patients.
3. To focus on health research to ensure the scientific validity of traditional treatment systems.
